The X-Arcade uses a keyboard encoder (it sends keystroke to the computer), isn't it?
If so, it's just a matter of going to the 'Keyboard' tab in mGalaxy runway and triggering buttons/joysticks for each action.

Im not sure but I think it is a joypad encoder and not a keyboard encoder?????
I would think joy to key or a similar type program. sorry if I am of track here.

The input end of the X-arcade is a PS/2 adapter - maybe I will try the keyboard tab then, and report findings

This would work - but it seems there aren't enough button commands (the x-arcade is an 8 button joystick).

Has anyone had any success getting the x-arcade to work for mGalaxy?

"All I had to do was make sure my MAME key inputs matched the inputs I programmed into mGalaxy and everything worked fine."

Ok, call me a noob but I'm gonna need a little more help than this. What MAME key inputs? And how would you programme more than 4 buttons? There just seems to be a lack of walkthroughs for setting up joysticks, and I really want to use the mGalaxy environment.

Anyone?

Should I be mapping keystrokes into MAME, or joystick movements?

This is one of the most popular game controllers for the MAME environment - seems odd that there are no really clear instructions on how to use it. Even the xgaming website is less than helpful.

I don't understand your problem.

You want to configure your X-arcade for mgalaxy or MaMe ?

Ok it is a keyboard encoder.

Also a little confused at whats wrong? first step is to get mame workingwithout mgalaxy. Try using a mameui, mameuifx or mameplus version of mame. and follow the instruction below. there are settings for xarcade in these versions apparently. What version of mame and mame roms are you using are they the same?

But, there is something I still don't understand, it's not posible to configure the x-arcade normaly, just directly in MaMe option ? after pressing the "tab" key ?

I use my X-Arcade almost daily.  I have MameUIFX32 .144 Final and Use MGalaxy.  You need to make sure you pick Mode 2 , 3 or 4 to program X-Arcade.  You can't program Mode 1...ALSO......VERY IMPORTANT......Everytime you restart the computer you need to press the Save/Load button on the XArcade so it knows to use the Mode 2. The load button tells it NOT to use Mode 1 and will go to whichever mode the switch is on.  Otherwise it defaults to stock settings(Mode 1).  It is called out in their manual.  I have 0 problems with my X-Arcade and am using it while I am building my custom panel.

Ok, that all sounds like a really good place to start - I'll go do that and come back if I have any issues! Thanks everyone

Holy crap, it works. I really don't understand how it recognises all 8 buttons, but I'm not going t argue the point. Thanks for your help!
