Hello,

If anyone could help me, I'd be grateful.

I'm running windows xp for reference.

Running NES roms straight from nestopia works fine.

MGALAXY shows all my nes roms.

However, when I go to play one... the sands of time icon comes up, the game/rom never loads, and eventually I am told that "mgalaxy has encountered a problem"

I think I've searched the forums and have found no answer.

Anyone have any ideas?

Super thanks.

Strange.
Can you put an xml extract from your mGalaxy config file ?
like this one

Code: Select all

 <System>
    <Name>Nintendo NES</Name>
    <AppPath>F:\emulateur\nintendo\nes\Fceux\fceux.exe</AppPath>
    <RomPath>F:\emulateur\nintendo\nes\Rom</RomPath>
    <SnapPath>F:\emulateur\Mgalaxy\snapsemul\nes</SnapPath>
    <VidPath />
    <Emu selected="0">
      <Cmd id="0" name="Nestopia/JNES/Virtual NES/FCEUX/NNNester/AutoIt" value=""%path\%file%ext"" />
    </Emu>
    <Ext selected="1">
      <Suf id="0" value=".zip" />
      <Suf id="1" value=".nes" />
    </Ext>
    <Active>True</Active>
  </System>
or better, your nestopia config File ?

Personnaly I use Fceux but i don't remember why, because Nestopia work fine.
http://www.fceux.com/web/home.html

Edit: I remember why, I have lot of roms with wrong header, and Nestopia don't support them but Fceux yes.

check your configs on mGalaxy_Runway.

Honestly, much like my username, I'm not sure how to do what you're asking. I.E= I'm beyond ignorant.

Not sure how to get a config file.....

I did try FCEUX.... same thing happened.

This only happens on NES emulators...MAME, SNES works fine. I've double-checked the paths, they all are correct.

Like I said, the NES games/roms are viewed in mgalaxy.... but they do not load.

I appreciate all the suggestions, I'm just lost and frustrated.

As far as I understand, I do use 4.1

?? i don't see why only with nes system and on differents emulators !!!
Have you try to change the resolution in the emulator ? 800*800 or 640*320 even you are using the fullscreen mode.

Try with the windowed mode too, just to make a test.

We can try with a third application (an autoit script for exemple) but i m really curious.

Ok an update...

Yes, I am definitely running mgalaxy 4.1

My OS is Windows XP service pack 2.

I updated ALL software updates/frame networks, etc.

I reinstalled mgalaxy. I redid all the paths.

NOTHING CHANGED.

So again, MAME and SNES emulators work 100% with mgalaxy.

Any NES emulator I try (I have them all downloaded now) shows all my roms, but when I click on one, I get the "sands of time" icon... nothing happens for about a minute, and then the "encountered an error, need to shut down" message comes up.

I'd love to have all emulators under a simple front-end, and mgalaxy has worked the best until this nes problem.

Stay at Nestopia, check the Paths on mGalaxy_Runway, is the application at: nestopia.exe ?
Are you sure, you made this Paths under the basic "NES" ?

Then, check this options: http://mgalaxy.com/tutorial_emulators.html
Under "Nestopia", is not primary, but check it, then all should run fine.

If you start a game from Nestopia without mGalaxy,
the game start in a window or fullscreen ?

Nothing helps ? So we need your Systems.xml, you have to read this:
http://www.mgalaxy.com/forum/index.php?topic=263.0
Maybe you have config a "false" emu, and give false parameters to nestopia.exe ... maybe !

Sorry, here i must pass with my little english  ???

But i think, there is only 1 little problem,
i have here 21 emus, and all rocks, incl. nestopia  ;)

Could you please:
1) send me one of your nes rom or tell me (here, by private message or by mail at "info(arobase)mgalaxy.com") where you got it?
2) what is the nestopia version
3) send me your 'systems.xml' file
    (XP: "C:\Documents and Settings\{username}\Application Data\mGalaxy\")

Thanks

Didn't wanted to create a new thread just for that, so I'll put it here :

FCEUX
(NOT TESTED, PLEASE REPORT IF IT WORKS OR NOT)

- To set the emulator to fullscreen:
Start FCEUX, go to 'Config' > 'Video...' and check 'Enter full screen mode after game is loaded'.
(or edit values in 'fceux.cfg' file: SDL.Fullscreen = 1 )

- To quit emulator using the ESC key:
Start FCEUX, go to 'Config'> 'Map Hotkeys...' and double click 'Exit' and press 'ESC'.

(or edit values in 'fceux.cfg' file: SDL.HotKeys.Quit = 27 )
I can confirm it's working fine, I just configured Fceux to use with mGalaxy.

Something that might help some people and that it took me some times to find :

To force a 4:3 ratio, in 'Config > Video", you must check both "Best Fit" and "TV Aspect (4:3)" boxes.
