Hi all,  I tried to search for this but was not able to find any info on this.

I have set up mGalaxy and latest MAME for Windows. Everything runs great once I am running a game. But the list is displaying all the BIOS .zip files, even though the Hide option is activated.

I have the latest possible catver file from the site linked on your page, and it is in the same folder as mame.exe

I run mGalaxy_Runway and follow all the instructions as indicated on your page. Use database file is activated, I've done create database and said OK/Yes to both popups.

But when I run mGalaxy and go into the list, all roms and bios zips are listed, and if I press Shift key to open the menu, it says "No database selected or no 'genre' info in your database"

I don't know what else to do. :( This is a fresh install of latest mGalaxy file from the website, just downloaded fresh catver from http://catlist.mameworld.info/ and have proper bios and rom files.

Thanks to all who read this post and offer assistance, appreciate it!

Could you:
1 - open mGalaxy folder > mGalaxy_Data > MAME
2 - see if there's a 'xmlout.xml' file there
  2a - if yes, open this file with notepad
  2b - search for (Ctrl-F) '<genre>BIOS' (without bracket)

Would you please give me the result to 2 and 2b then?

Thanks

Hi. :) Thank you for looking into this. I have opened the mgalaxy folder and there does not even appear to be a data folder of any kind in there.

So I tried looking in another place and found this instead:
C:\Users\Jeff\AppData\Roaming\mGalaxy\MAME\xmlout.xml

Inside this file I searched for <genre>BIOS but it returned no matches.

If I search for just BIOS it returns one match:
-<game name="3dobios" cloneof="">

<description>3DO Bios</description>

<genre/>

<players>BIOS</players>

</game>

That's all I could find.

Obviuously the catver.ini file hasn't been found or is a very old version!

Download the latest catver.ini file from http://www.progettoemma.net/?catlist
Un-zip it (mGalaxy is waiting for a 'catver.ini' file not a 'catveren.zip' file!
Place it along the mame.exe

Start mGalaxy_Runway > MAME > Click 'Create Database', Check 'Use database, click 'Save'

Works perfect now, thank you so much. :)

Just for the record, I was reading this page: http://www.mgalaxy.com/tutorial_mGalaxy.html

In the MAME section is a link to here: http://catlist.mameworld.info/

Inside this page is a list on the left, I tried all the catver.ini files at these locations which was the files that didn't end up working for me.

Thank you for the other link, I see now that that link is also mentioned on that other page. My mistake! Awesome software!
