Hi mGalaxy,
Firstly thanks for making such an awesome frontend
I am new to mGalaxy and was attracted by the possible portability of the program.
Here's a run down of what I did (I'm only using it for mame at the moment.)
I installed mGalaxy, mame (Command line), catver.ini and nplayers.ini etc into E:\Games\mGalaxy\,
while installing I ticked the option for portability.
Started runway chose paths for mame, roms, music etc.
So the paths in this case would be - E:\Games\mGalaxy\mame.exe, E:\Games\mGalaxy\music\ and so on.
created a database and started mGalaxy, selected available roms only in prefs and everything
works great, all available roms showed up in the list as expected, everything plays fine.
If I copy the contents of the mGalaxy folder to the root of another drive,
lets say F:\ for example and I change the paths in runway to just \mame.exe and \music\ etc,
mGalaxy still runs (Music plays and so on).
All mame roms show in the list but if I select available roms only in the prefs or if I scroll through the list mGalaxy crashes.
I'm using Windows 7 Ult Sp1, I've also tried it with a USB stick
on another machine XP SP3 and same thing happens (Change to avail roms or scroll it crashes)
If you set the config <setting name="show_userroms" serializeAs="String">
<value>False</value> to true mGalaxy crashes straight away.
If you choose not to use mame's intergrated database and click no to use
roms folder list instead mGalaxy crashes.
If I do the same thing as above and launch runway (Win 7 & XP) and change the paths to the
correct drive letter of the stick it works with no problems.
what I want to do is copy contents of the mGalaxy folder to the root of a USB stick
and use it on another machine without changing the drive letter in runway.
Is there wildcard sort of command I could use for drives\paths in runway,
so I dont have to change the drive letter everytime I plug into different machine?
Sorry to be such a noob and go on and on and on ZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzz.
Let me know if you need more info
or that i've done something stupid.
(It wouldn't be the first time)
Thanks
Rich
