So I am changing to a new mame version 0.284 from 0.160. I am doing it fresh so i figured I should update the catver.ini and the nplayers. ini.

our information for these files in our "Creating and filling a MAME database" post our outdated just to let mGalaxy know. The catver page comes up as a 404. The correct Nplayers page comes up but if you click on the download link for the current nplayers nothing happens. I went and found both files elsewhere.

I assume this is correct in updating these 2 files with a newer version of Mame ??

When creating the database for MAME, mGalaxy expects to find (in the MAME executable folder that has been specified)

• history.xml (https://www.arcade-history.com/index.php?page=download)
• catver.ini (https://www.progettosnaps.net/catver/)
• nplayers.ini (https://nplayers.arcadebelgium.be/)

If mGalaxy cannot find them, it will download a synchronized version of all three from the mGalaxy website (in this case, version 0.270).

You can therefore manually place these three files in your MAME folder.

There is indeed a problem with the nplayers website.
The first problem is that the link seems to be dead. To get around this, right-click on the link and select “Copy link address.” Then open a new tab in your browser and paste it!
The second problem is that updates are not always guaranteed. I believe their latest version is 0278.
(That said, apart from the fact that it is not entirely up to date, there is currently nothing stopping you from installing an earlier version of nplayers.ini.)
