Sort by Category...

Not sure if this is currently available or not (if it is, I haven't figured it out yet).
I'd love to see a option to sort the games by category or perhaps a button press to change the listing from Favorites to Category view.
Let me explain... if I'm in the mood for a "Casino" type game, I'd like to be able to move to that category and then select from those games. And then, if I want a "Fighter" style game after that, I can just move to that category. These would be sorted by the categories already available in the Catver.ini file. It just seems like it would be easier to find the games you want by genre / category instead of scrolling through all the games to find the one you want by name.
Again, if this feature is already available, please let me know so I can start using it :)
Thanks!

hi gonzojoey,
This feature already exists! (if I correctly understand you)

- Goto the menu, ('shift' on keyboard, by default)
- Navigate to the 'Genre' button
- Select it ('1' on the main keyboard, not the keypad)
- Browse to the category that you want, select it ('1'). You will see the change applied in real-time on the main window
- Press '2', this time, to go out of that sub-menu.
- Then '2' again to go out from the menu window.

In mGalaxy '1' selects or launch. '2' exits.
The "Genre" filter relies on 'catver.ini'...so you must have this file in your mGalaxy folder.

I hope that this replies correctly to your question.

PS: your avatar icon is very cool ;-)

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping there was a way to toggle between genres without accessing the menu. I have my setup in a cabinet, so i'd prefer to avoid keyboard use if possible. I could config button 3 as shift and then just use the menu as you described.
What I was suggesting is similar to the way left and right  scrolls down the list. I was thinking maybe left or right while holding down a button could change the genre, or something similar.
Again, thanks for the great frontend. Keep up the good work.

mGalaxy is entirely driven by arcade control panel! I gave you the keyboard keys...but all this can be achieved with your Joystick and buttons!
Entering menu is "Button 4", then navigate with your joystick to the "Genre" button, select it by pressing "Player 1" button, select your genre with the same "Player 1". Exit genre selection by pressing "Player 2". Exit menu by pressing "Player 2" again.
Is that OK like that?

I remind you that:
Player 1: select/launch game
Player 2: exit menu and search window
Player 1 + Player 2: exit mGalaxy
Button 1: add to favorite
Button 3: search window
Button 4: menu window

You can find a tutorial video on using mGalaxy in the Faq/Help page
