Hi this is a choice of the OS. The HID (human interface device) Is a windows native driver. HID is also recognized on macs and Linux systems. So the OS driver layer uses what it so desires. On Linux it's SDL and easily mapped to xinput . On a mac it is also SDL but not easily ported to xinput AFAIK ...
