Re: Visit to an arcade on the Isle of Wight.. Complete with REAL arcade machines!!

Well next time you visit the South of England - remember this post!! An awesome arcade that needs as much cash spent in it as possible to keep it alive! I noticed a lot of arcade machines behind the playable ones - poor cabs that had slipped into disrepair. They were in a section called "retro ...

Re: have a few questions about running this not in a cabinet
well kind of, i guess my main question was if this would/will work as a htcp also. movies and music would be second in use to my emulators
mGalaxy will work as a front-end for anything really - but it is of course geared towards retrogaming emulators. There's nothing to ...

Visit to an arcade on the Isle of Wight.. Complete with REAL arcade machines!!

A few weeks ago myself and my wife took the 2 children (aged 6 and 12) out to the Isle of Wight. For those of you who don't know (which is probably 99.9% I'm guessing!) - the Isle of Wight is the small diamond-shaped island off of the direct south of the British Isles. Kind of looks like it will ...

Re: Multiple file extension filter

Just read this one after a long time not visiting mgalaxy.com due to the norm - family - kids - summer holidays.. They all seem to be getting in the way of my retro gaming!! This is a feature that I have been wondering why it wasn't in the program personally, although from a programming point of ...

Re: Joypad control...

Agreed it will be a really nice addition to an already great front-end.
No problem, if the emulator is compatible with xbox controller it will be compatible with all generics joypads with some wrappers or applications. You can use Motioninjoy like said davhuit, or x360ce (I use this ...

Re: Auto-Scan
The loading is not "slow" (about 2 seconds on my i5...but, that's true, about 8 on an old Pentium IV...for the whole romset!!!) because it's reading the Mame database...but because the system is then verifying, for each rom, that (1) you have this rom (2) whether it belongs to ...

Re: Portable Version

I'm back! And yes - a portable version is a great idea. I understand why the current config is in the %appdata% directory though, so it would have to be a different build if the author thought it worth while. Either that or a complete walk-away from the Windows standard.. =/ But yes, a portable ...

Re: What original retro systems do you own?

Between us we own some awesome systems! What amazes me is that my gameboy color is 15 years old and looks factory fresh.. Plays like a dream too. Now that was engineering. I owned a PS2 a few years ago and it broke in 6 months. Things were built to last back in the day! ;)

Re: What original retro systems do you own?

I also have a GameCube, Wii and PC of course but don't class these as retro of course.. Even though the GameCube is getting on a bit and the PC with dosbox can hold it's own =)

What original retro systems do you own?

Interested after seeing Stefan's collection - what original retro systems does everyone own? My personal list: 3 zx spectrums (2 original rubber key and 1 +2) Sega MegaDrive Nintendo SNES 2 Gameboy Classics & 1 Gameboy Color Atari ST (at my mum's house) 2 Atari 2600 juniors (at my mum's house too) A ...

Re: MAME Cabs

It is funny when people play new games and say they're "hard" - I agree lol. If you could complete a game on your system when we were younger, we would be the talk of the playground at school! Nowadays, of course, games are created to be completed. Everything is stacked in the player's favour. It's ...

Re: MAME Cabs

A great table-top cab and it must have been a really fun project. I would die for a full-sized one, even though my wife would probably have a few things to say about that!!! The kids would love it though - I have a six year old daughter that adores Pacman! I would probably never be able to play it ...

Re: Wanted: Pacman Championship Edition DX

Agreed - no good way to play it atm ;) The only way is with a PS3 emulator I'm afraid.. There are quite a few on the net that are bogus. And a few others that don't really emulate the PS3 fully - just a few low-level functions. Plus the PC you'd need to emulate it would be very high spec, so it's ...
